Review on πŸš— SHEROX 3.5" Car HUD Head Up Display with OBD2/EUOBD Interface: Speed, OverSpeed Warning, Water Temp, Battery Voltage, Mileage by Mark Raj

Overall good with one really annoying feature

Bought for my Porsche Macan as this car doesn't have a HUD option. I only need the MPH and that's why I bought it and not some other flashy displays with over-the-top features. It took some time to set this up properly. For example, it was a bit tricky to get into settings mode initially because you had to press the mode dial exactly 90 degrees or it wouldn't register if you held the button down. But once there, the settings were easy. I found it easy to set miles per hour versus kilometers per hour and adjust options like mode and brightness. Setting up the speed calibration took a bit of trial and error as the default value of 108 was too high. But I found a reasonable match at setting 104, which was within plus/minus 1 mph. So far, so good. Now the really annoying feature. It's just a deal breaker for me if I can't find a solution. But the overspeed alarm setting range is too small. The range is 25 to 80 miles per hour. In California, normal traffic seems to hit 80 miles per hour on a regular basis. Every time I hit 80 it starts beeping loudly. This is especially annoying when you're hovering at or near 80mph, as it will beep when it goes over 80, stop beeping when you slow down a little, then beep again when you pick up speed, etc Up to 80mph is too low and I couldn't find a way to turn it off completely. That alone makes you look for another device and the reason for only 3 stars. I hope to find a solution for the speed warning as otherwise I like this HUD.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Slightly dented
