Doesn't look like cycling shoes but is difficult to lace up

One of the reasons I bought these cycling shoes is because they don't look like cycling shoes. They look like athletic shoes (like tennis shoes) and look beautiful. The cleats are also recessed so the cleats don't touch the surface when walking off a bike. I find that the recessed lugs make it a bit difficult to secure the pedals. When attaching the cleats to the shoes I had to use the two screw holes on the back to center the cleats in the recess (see image). There is also a nice elastic strap to tuck in after you put your shoes on (see photo). The main issue I had with the shoes was the fairly tight lacing. The lace holes are simply punched into the fabric of the shoe and the laces don't slip through the holes as easily. This makes it difficult to lace up shoes. Metal eyelets like my previous shoes would have been much better. I'm keeping the shoes because I like how they look and feel well made. However, if I had to replace these shoes, I would go with the Velcro straps. In terms of fit, I wear size 11 shoes and a size 45 (11.5) fits me.
