Review on πŸ”˜ HP 34-Inch Monitor with Freesync Technology, 3440x1440p IPS Curved Screen, Blue Light Filter & Anti-Glare Coating - 6JM50AA by Mark Brimmer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A great monitor for casual gamers, content consumers, content creators and multitaskers.

Read ahead, but here is the TLDR: exceptional monitor, aesthetically modern and slim, great build quality, excellent picture, easy operation/setup, good price, no real tilt and tilt adjustment, no speakers. Content creators, consumers and casual gamers will love the HP 34f Curved. Avid gamers and people who need adjustable monitors won't do this. If you're still here, thank you. I was skeptical about ordering a monitor online, but bit the bullet anyway. And boy am I glad I did. The packaging is standard and neatly wrapped inside in a protective film. I had an Acer Predator xb321hk and an HP n246v. Both panels were IPS. Although the Acer had a 4K screen, the picture lacked pop even after recalibration. I suspect it has to do with the anti-reflective coating. The HP n246v had an amazing "pop" in comparison, but the 1080p resolution was too small for me. So I researched, read and looked at countless reviews to find what I wanted. I couldn't find much information on the HP 34f Curved Monitor, but sometime late on Black Friday I came across a PDF datasheet. Feeling pretty confident I bought the monitor and crossed my fingers hoping I wouldn't be another victim of a faulty monitor. The monitor arrived on time, brand new with all accessories (HDMI cable, DP cable, power supply). Putting it together was a breeze; Insert the neck into the back of the monitor, and then connect the base (W-10.5" x Depth 7.5" x Monitor Height from bottom of base 3") to the neck. Connect the cables, turn on the device, select the source (if it doesn't happen automatically), play with the color settings and enable FreeSync (only available at 60 Hz on DisplayPort). This monitor has no height adjustment and no speakers (what's wrong with you, buy real speakers). The resolution of 3440 x 1440 is between Full High Definition and 4K: I think it's perfect for a monitor! (1080p is too narrow for multiple windows and table columns, too few pixels, and 4K is too straining my eyes for text as I'm sitting 32" from the screen, and 4k is killer for my GPU, gtx970, not to mention 4k is wasted on any screen smaller than 49 inches). GTA V looks sleek and colorful, COD looks amazing, Forza looks amazing. YT movies and videos in 21:9 look insanely good, but when they're in 16:9 they have black bars on the sides (never mind, it's like having a really good 24" monitor).
