Most non-workstation or server motherboards only offer 4-6 SATA ports, so I settled on the LSI 9300-8i PCI-Express 3.0 SATA/ SAS 8 - Port SAS3 12Gb/s HBA (2 SFF-8643 Mini SAS HD ports) to increase the number of SSDs and HDDs I can set up for my home server. For the HBA I needed a decent set of interconnect cables to connect additional drives and these cables were perfect for all purposes. They're well made, fit snugly in the HBA, and haven't experienced any speed drops (which I've experienced with lower quality cables in the past). It's important to note that these cables are much longer and thinner than standard SATA cables. You would use to connect from the motherboard to the drive. Some caution is required when handling them. They're not exactly brittle or brittle, and they're not brand specific (all patch cords are the same), although you don't want to bend the cords or tighten them with zip ties. I recommend the UGREEN Hook and Loop material (it's similar to Velcro but better). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N5NKVVK/
