Review on πŸ”Œ Dodge Ram 2002-04 Amp Bypass Harness: Metra 70-6512 - High-performance Solution (NOT Radio Harness) by Alex Tilden

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Quality product but check the Infinity amp connections first.

So apparently there are TWO different 2002-2004 Dodge Ram 1500's with Infinity audio harnesses. One is this product and the other is 70-6510 which actually has 3 connectors. It said if you don't have a phone icon or steering wheel controls then 70-6512 is "for you". I ordered it before disassembling the dashboard to get to the infinity amp which had 2 harnesses attached which already alerted me. I went ahead and plugged it in anyway and nothing worked. unless the main unit was turned on. Another reviewer mentioned that if your Infinity amp has two plugs you will need the 70-6510 which I recently ordered and hopefully it will work as it has two plugs that plug into the jacks on the amp and then another which is connected to the head for the connection. three total, which makes sense. I suspect my problem is that the product description is misleading me as there are obviously vehicles without steering wheel controls or a phone icon that the 70-6512 will not fit. I did not pay the cost of the seat belts because I did not come to the project before the return deadline. The cables and connectors themselves look like quality products and if the 70-6510 works for me then I know it should last for years. UPDATE: So I ordered the 70-6510 and it didn't work (won't even connect!). So this strap, 70-6512 was correct, the problem is that it doesn't secure properly, at least for me! I pulled out all the pins and then used the schematic and plugged them back in appropriately and now everything works. I've attached a wiring diagram that I thought was correct for at least my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Quad Cab. Of the two harnesses going to the Infinity amp, the smaller is the input and the larger has constant power for the amp and speaker wires. So the harness is still worth it to me as I didn't have to cut the harness and splice all the wires, but what an agony the whole experience was!
