I have used these retractable accessory cords for many years. I love them in the car and when travelling. I have it in every handbag! However, they don't last long with daily use. Maybe 6-8 months. With infrequent use, it will last much longer. After a few months, the cord does not retract either. You have to start pulling it all the way out and clicking again to make it retract. In addition, the connection begins to drop. After months of daily use, I have to twist and wiggle the plug to get a good stereo connection. After a while I can't get a connection no matter what I do. The cable is very thin and I think the wires inside just break. They are also not childproof. Any child who picks it up with a sharp tug is likely to break the clockwork inside. This has happened to several of me.
