I bought this light along with other types of Christmas lights for last Christmas (2020). I decided to use this string of lights on my light pole. The timer works fine. Once I put it on, I just forget about it. I like different light patterns. Remote control is a bit tricky. I have to be very close for this to work. I tried different angles and placements of the base unit and the results were the same. I have to get pretty close enough to control the light. Another small but probably expected issue is that the cord gets tangled easily, so be careful when unrolling/untangling the lantern. First decide where you want to use it. That light will never go out of my pillar of light for the rest of my life. Excellent light for price and performance.
