Review on 13-Inch Apple MacBook Pro with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD Storage in Space Gray - Previous Model by Bogdan Bonev ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good product, more pros than cons.

After weighing the pros and cons, I have not yet settled on a 13-inch ultrabook with a glossy screen as my primary device. I have encountered models without a keyboard backlight, those with excessively loud fans (one laptop was even sold), and those plagued by coil whine when reading about the Dell XPS. The poppy was the default option in most cases. In general, poppy is a source of constant joy in my life. Also, Linux seems to be getting easier to use every month, so I may switch to using it as a secondary operating system on my laptop (at least according to github). Still, I'd like to see a price cut, but Wishlist items are inherently subjective.

Pros
  • This laptop includes a glossy screen (a plus in my book), a backlit keyboard, and is suitable for working in a platform other than Windows (in this case, Mac OS X), making it ideal for my needs. The laptop is silent; I only heard the fan turn on once. Superb craftsmanship, built to last
Cons
  • For one, it seems very heavy. I had hoped that the ated poppy would yield results on the order of a kilogram, but alas, this was not the case. The weight of a laptop isn't a big deal for me, a man, but it is for some people, like my mother. Even in 2019, setting up Linux on a laptop remains difficult, with many users reporting issues such as a lack of sound (apart from usb-connected speakers) and a non-functioning sleep/wake up mode. Linux isn't necessary for most people, yet it's crucial to me both professionally and personally. A negative in general 3. Even with the scale set to maximum in the system settings, users with vision impairments of -7/8 still report that the fonts are too small in Makosi. Make sure the system's typefaces meet your needs in terms of maximum scale before making a purchase. 4. The buttons click too loudly, as mentioned in previous reviews; this is true, like a gentle drum roll. That instance, I assume you will be requested to limit your activities if someone else is sleeping in your accommodation or if you wish to work on a train / plane at night. 5. A charger with a type-c plug that is so snug in the connector that it must be ripped out of the poppy to remove it. Pull the plug out of the wall with one hand while holding the laptop in the other. Magsafe regrets that it was taken away.
