Review on Hawk Performance HB292F 674 Ceramic Brake by Stephen Thomas

Lost brakes while towing over a pass

I put them on my 85 Bronco. I used to have a semi-metallic bendix. They were great pads, excellent stopping power, wet or dry consistency, towing or not, but too much dust. The Hawk Performance HB292F.674 HPS Performance ceramic brake pads feel the same when I'm not towing. Recently, while hauling my heavy cargo trailer down a small, winding pass, I experienced a front brake failure and overheating. I've never experienced this with the Bendix, whether it's towing a fully loaded trailer or towing my boat with camping gear. Considering the Bronco only weighs about 4500 pounds, I'd be very hesitant to put them on the F150, especially if you're towing. Will look for something else when these wear out.

Pros
  • Brake pads
Cons
  • Long delivery time
