I really like this set of watercolor pencils. There is a good range of colors for a small and compact set. I've never used watercolor pencils, so I can't compare them to other brands of pencils, but they did exactly what they're described for: when water is added, the pencil marks become watercolors. It will take me some time to get used to this technique so I wish there was an instruction manual, but there is a lot of information on the internet. I used them as pens with a 3 year old and they worked well because they are durable and also because the colors are dark enough that you don't have to press hard to bring them out. Note: This comes with a small brush only. So if you want to use it to create a watercolor effect, you need to buy more brushes.
