I had a unique situation: I needed high quality audio, but I had inches of room on the sides of the TV, no wall speakers and no usable floor space. . My bedroom is tiny and long so it's a wonder I have room at all for my 48 inch TV, stand and other miscellaneous equipment. Pricing and Miscellaneous Features I didn't want to save money and buy PC/Desktop speakers - they're set up for those who wouldn't be listening more than a few feet away and wouldn't fill my room with sound. Sacrifice sound quality for speaker size - there are many mini Bluetooth speakers that can be paired and used as a 2.0 setup, but again quality is generally lacking and often the price is double what I would be willing to pay. , considering that. They would also limit what I could add to the setup later, as well as my connectivity options. afraid of them. Bottom line: if you're like me and don't have enough space you're desperate for quality audio, but unless you want to blindly spend $1,000 on a weird mic setup, look no further! These speakers are less than 4 inches wide (yes, four inches!), sound like a pair, are twice the size, and potentially three times the price (according to many reviews). The brand is respected and the quality speaks for itself. Let me be clear: even if I had more room for large bookshelf speakers, I would probably still choose these. You are so good!Starting out, what other options have I had? Well, there weren't many. I found a huge range of 5-6 inch wide bookshelf speakers that just wouldn't fit, a range of desktop speakers that really shouldn't be used in a small home theater and the most promising option at the time was a pair of AudioEngine A2 Plus . Now they're also 4 inches wide, so they'd be a good fit, but they're almost three times the price and according to many reviewers, that price doesn't quite match the power output (most said you could pay half their asking price and get that the best equipment). To be clear, they aren't bad speakers, but for those looking for true hi-fi sound and also want to get the most bang for their buck, they probably won't pull it off - note that this goes without saying on many devices" all-in-oneβ like soundbars (btw, stay away if you value good sound and your wallet). Other obvious issues aside, I wanted clean stereo separation, so there was little mention of soundbars. I also looked at the Micca RB42 which got a lot of reviews and is a decent price. Unfortunately they are also 1 inch wider and would give me literally no wiggle room. I will likely return to them in the future as my space changes. The other option was the Cambridge Audio Minx Min 22, which seems very nice but costs three times as much - for a blind buy. I could not bear it. I'm also not entirely sure if they would fit as main speakers in a 2.0/2.1 configuration (do you use them? Please leave a comment!). So, miraculously, I came across this Micca OoO bookshelf. Speaker. Most important for my particular situation is that their footprint is as small as possible (you can even place them horizontally!). But what is the actual sound like? Their sound is clear and spacious, with nice warm mids, punchy and surprisingly deep bass (technically rated at 60Hz, although I can hear/feel decent bass down to around 35Hz) and clear highs. (not too crispy/shiny, but not cloudy either). Overall, they lean a bit towards the warm side of things, with a great, truly room-filling soundstage and *lots* of detail (without the extra processing some all-in-one solutions sadly rely on). Additional notes for BASSHEADS: They won't bang against your windows, but they deliver MUCH more bass than their size would suggest. You may need to turn down the bass a bit in an apartment or general living environment. I personally think I don't need a subwoofer. UMMM of course. For audiophiles reading this, these are NOT bass focused speakers - while they deliver great bass, they are also very well balanced. Again, they're a bit warmer, but the emphasis is on the details. How is the build quality? Spring. Khrm. Unobtrusive? You seem strong. Nothing rattles. Everything perfectly connected. You look good, although this is of course subjective. To be honest I don't see any build quality issues in the future. What are my settings? I've paired them with decent 12g banana plugs ($30 - never overpay for cables!) and SMSL AD18 ($140, another fantastic option for tiny setups like mine - check in inbox). The entire installation costs less than $300! My wallet and my ears are very happy. Are they the best? Absolutely not, and they're probably limited by their size, although that's not unique to them - you can only get that much sound from a smaller set of speakers. But wow, they sound amazing, especially in a small room like mine (although according to the specs and my testing they can certainly handle enough power to fill a much larger room). For the price (maybe even 2x, *maybe* 3x as much) I don't think they can get any better.tldr; These are fantastic speakers in a tiny footprint, delivering quality sound with an amazing amount of bass (without sacrificing clarity). Definitely usable as the main speaker in a 2.0 (or higher) system. Steal for the price and they hit a lot more than their weight. Recommended for audiophiles and casual listeners alike.
