On Sony A6000/A7 series mirrorless models, you must unscrew the reference lens completely from the body to achieve focus (unless you're holding your head over the lens and looking from a distance). . It's designed more for DSLRs where the sensor sits deeper in the body. However, when it's in focus, the image is sharp and dust is easy to see on the sensor. I was going to return it but after removing the lens from the base it seems to hold up for the money. To use it in my case, I hold the base piece with lit LEDs on the camera body with one hand and the reference lens (after removing it from the base) with the other hand. This actually makes it easier to focus and move to look at the sensor. It's definitely not a professional sensor tester, but again, it doesn't cost as much as one. And the included pouch is a nice touch, so you can keep it in your camera bag and take it with you on the go. You'll probably have to screw it in almost all the way to get decent focus with an eye on the lens (they use a photographer's loupe).
