This is my fourth keratin smoothing. I do this every summer. I'm also a licensed barber/stylist so I'm more than comfortable doing it myself. Yes, I'm sure it would be easier to do the back with a friend, but if you can give yourself a salon blowout and use a flat iron like a pro, you certainly can. I have medium thick dry curly long wavy hair that looks like Brillo pads when wet. I use about 2/3 of a bottle per treatment. Will it do an iron 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? NO, it is not strong enough compared to Brazilian Blow Out which contains 10% formaldehyde, it only contains 3% but is still effective for home use. Here's what it will do: Remove most of your curls. Your hair will air dry very quickly. Split ends tend to intertwine, making them less noticeable. All in all a much healthier feel and look. Your hair will shine. If you have to hit it with an iron, it won't just be in a few places. If you use curling irons every once in a while, they will still hold your curls as usual. If you color your hair (do this a day before the color becomes harder to penetrate after a week or two), your color will stay on a little longer than usual. Is it worth? For me 100 times YES! Does it smell? Terrible but better than their original formula. Eyes, nose and throat will burn/water, which is very bad when ironing. Doing it on the street isn't just an offer that will burn your face! Application can be tricky as it's quite runny, the paint tray and brush are useful but last forever on long hair. Don't oversaturate your hair, it will never dry out. Remember to comb during the treatment and then leave it on for 30 minutes. I forgot that once this step didn't work. Drying with a hair dryer takes almost an hour. The only way to achieve this is with a good iron! Heat and formaldehyde bind keratin to your hair. If your iron isn't hot enough, you've done all that work for nothing! A thermal glove or comb to treat the hair that comes out of the flat iron is best as it looks like pillars of lava. I need about 3 hours from start to finish. I wait a full 3 days to wash it, it's gross like you haven't washed it in months, but it works better for me. During this time between the 1st wash, do not use a ponytail, headband, hair clips or tuck your hair behind your ears, this will leave an irreversible curl in your hair! When you wake up and find your hair tousled from sleep, straighten it with an iron. After you wash off the sulfate-free products, only others will remove the keratin from your hair. They make their own brand of shampoo/conditioner which I am very happy with. How long it will take? 3-4 months depending on how you regrow (your roots will be your problem) and what products you use on your hair.
