UPDATE: February 2010 It's been almost 5 years now. I ended up buying two. After 4 years we wore out the one in the kindergarten that served as our main printing shop. The second house had much easier tasks. Still works great. Based on that experience we have become die-hard Brother fans and now own the 6490 and 8460. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've had mine for 10 months now and it's very reliable; no problem with that. Prints the first page quickly, the display is a backlit monochrome LCD so you can see in dark places (like keeping it under the counter), no paper jams, nothing more. Even if you are an Apple owner, the drivers are already included with OS X; really plug and print. What's really neat is being able to pair it with the Apple Airport Express and use Apple's Bonjour software to easily convert it into a wireless network printer. Bonjour is available for both OS X and Windows computers and is very easy to install. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a multifunctional black and white laser printer that is compatible with both Windows and Mac OS.
