Hard seat cushion. Would like more padding. At 5ft3 this chair suits me. The armrests are adjustable fore and aft and up and down, but don't recline to avoid being intrusive. This still works with the tray on my office desk as they can be adjusted to slide between the desktop and the desktop tray below allowing me to get very close to the desk. My back hurt every day after a few hours in my old office chair. I can sit in it for hours and have no back pain. For me, that was the most important thing I was looking for in a chair. Now if I can find a pillow that fits the seat exactly, I'm a perfectly happy camper. Even if not, I'll keep this chair for myself. I paid for the chair to be professionally assembled and I'm glad I did. She knew what she was doing and the assembly went smoothly. It would be difficult for me to do it myself and I think it would be a problem. for others if they were not experienced and had no muscles.
