Application is very simple. Shine under the base. The hydrophobic properties are typical for the SiO2 coating. As another reviewer mentioned, I don't like that it produces dried out crystalline flakes. When applied to black paint, crystal dust can be very irritating. Let's see how she holds up. I applied it to a black monthly customer truck so I'll leave an update when I see the truck next month. **UPDATE** 4/15/2019 I liked this product with a different application method. Rather than spraying the sealer directly onto the painted surface, I've learned that applying it to an MF applicator pad and then spreading it evenly and buffing works best to avoid crystal dust. The durability is very impressive for an aerosol sealant. After 1 month, the water beads are still 100% active and the added glitter is still there.
