We bought a brand new trailer and made the long trip from Kansas to Yellowstone. The trip was 3,500 miles round trip, mostly on the freeway. I set the Rocktamers to a medium length that just fitted the outside of my tire. The next notch was about 4 inches further and I found that too much. Rocktamers' instructions recommend that the guard extends 2 inches past the edges of the tires, which wasn't the case for me. Although they didn't stick out that far (and caught as much wind as possible), the doors began to crack at the corners. Please see my attached photo. I've had one use (albeit a large one) of these valves and they are failing. I was hoping for a long term solution because I was hoping they would do a good job protecting our boats as well. Two stars instead of one because everything else is very solid.
