IBAR, ISOBAR or ISOBARULTRA? The 4-out model is listed as IBAR4 and ISOBAR4ULTRA on the Tripp Lite website. The differences are to be expected: IBAR is the one that shuts down when hacked (what APC calls disaster preparedness), and ULTRA is the one that just hilariously keeps passing power, which is only talked about lightbulbs. Your protection status, or lack thereof, if your daily personal rituals include checking the indicators of your surge protectors. So what do you get when you order IBAR4, the item featured here? What I received was a box labeled ISOBAR4 (this article is not on the Tripp Lite website at the time of writing this) but it contained ISOBARULTRA. The problem is this is not what I wanted or ordered. Order at your own risk. Edit - I reordered and received the same wrong box and product. I have also checked various retailers' websites and found that almost all of them feature the IBAR4 and ISOBAR4/ISOBAR ULTRA images and product names in the SAME ADVERTISEMENT. In short, assuming they're using ad formats native to Tripp Lite, Tripp Lite has mixed their ads, products, and packaging to the point that it's almost impossible to order and receive an IBAR, at least not with certainty. - I have also reordered from two other retailers. Same story both times. I got ISOBARULTRA in an ISOBAR box when I wanted a good old IBAR. Looking back now I look at the ISOBAR product line and see that with the Six Out model the cheaper version is now labeled ISOBAR which appears to be functionally the same as the old IBAR but with fancy ULTRA flashing lights . I guess that's what they're trying to do with four. At least that explains the box. Does the box contain ULTRA if you want non-Ultra again, who knows? My experience is that you get that, which means it's just not possible to get IBAR or even ISOBAR. The Tripp Lite distro seems to be a real mess at the moment.
