If you have never used them they will change your life

It was during my early days as an industrial maintenance worker that I first encountered wire tips. Any panel maker who takes pride in their work will put it to good use and it's easy to see why. Most connecting wires use stranded conductors for many reasons, but their fatal flaw is the difficulty in keeping the individual strands in order when clamped with a screw terminal or the like. Tips solve this problem in such a great way that if you enjoy using them, you will wonder how you managed to go without them for so long in your life. Even if you only use them at home to tidy up the ends of your speaker cords before plugging them into your amp and speakers, you'll be happier with them than without them. The tips in this kit are of good quality. They're copper, I think, tinned. Good but not great as the coating gets scraped off when you bite into the screw terminal. This means they're more susceptible to oxidation than if they had a more durable finish, but it's no worse than using just bare copper conductors as is common with most speaker wire and general purpose patch cords. However, it doesn't matter. In most cases copper oxidation occurs only at the surface level and can be removed with contact cleaner and light abrasion and prevented with a suitable dielectric lubricant. However, the crimping tool is not very good. It's a bit of an ugly crimp compared to the ones I used at work. The jaws have too much play and don't come together perfectly so small bits of the tip get stuck between them creating small protrusions at 1 or 2 corners of the final crimp. Again, no big deal. Otherwise, it snaps smoothly into place and easily crimps to the included 7ga spade terminals.
