Review on Western Digital WD Purple 2TB hard drive WD20PURZ by Stanislaw Plonka ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I am amazed at how well the product is made, just magically!

I connected the drive on wires, without installing it in the case, in order to check the vibration and temperature. I started the PC, took the disk in my hand, at first I thought that it simply did not start, since I could not feel the vibrations with my hands at all. Then, after booting the OS, I realized that the disk was working. With the help of Victoria, I ran Verify, Read and Write, attached screenshots. No slow (orange) sectors were found. Before that, for comparison, I connected 2 HGST 2.5-inch drives, 1 TB each, I specially took them with a spindle speed of 5400 rpm, so they were shaking specifically, with one stronger than the other and dozens of orange ones. Working temperature 36 degrees, in idle about 34. I used a lot of disks, this one can probably be called the best in its class. Maybe I was lucky, but the impressions are extremely positive. This is the first disk where Victoria didn't find any orange sectors! They are always available even in server hard drives, and even more so in the black WD series. Someone wrote that with a small amount of free space left on the disk, its speed drops, I can assume that this is due to the slower speed of the disk closer to its final sectors, which can be clearly seen on the Verify graph.
