Does not go back, (DVI connector on the DP monitor) Generally such adapters ONLY go from the newer graphics card standard to the older monitor standard NOT from the DVI connector on the graphics card to DP port of the monitor. And you need the matching DVI cable to go from the adapter to the monitor. There are 3 different DVI pinouts: google "dvi connectors" and look at the pictures to see what version of DVI your monitor requires and check the product photos for the adapter to make sure the adapter accepts. Then check that you have the cable with the right ends! If not, please order the correct cable with the adapter.
