Review on Muc Off 872 Ceramic Fluid_Ounces by Grant Galloway

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best bike chain lube I've ever used (65 years experience)

So-called dry lubes tend to leak. You can lubricate the chain in seconds but you will make a mess and lose 75% of the product. This ceramic dry lubricant is the perfect balance between liquid and gel. It comes in a plastic bottle with a very long dropper applicator that makes it easy to apply exactly one drop to each chain link. (Photo #1) Start with the main link and after about 112 casts you're back to square one. Spin the chain for a minute so that the lubricant gets into all the internal cavities. then wipe with a cloth. Ready. Most impressively, since using this lube (and reapplying every 200 miles), my chains are lasting 2-3 times longer than they used to. (Cheers to the Pro Bike Garage smartphone app for reminding me when it's time to lube and do other maintenance.) I get over 6,000 miles on a single DuraAce chain, and each bottle saves me over 200 US dollars on chain exchange. This makes this modestly expensive lube one of the best deals in the cycling world. This lube has a UV dye and a tiny UV light (pic #1) that you can use to make sure the lube is where you want it. I think the UV function is overkill. Because of its perfect consistency, you can easily see which link was last lubricated as you work your way up the chain. (UV can be useful if you're using a chain without a master link. Are there other things like this?) The last benefit is probably coincidental: the Muc Off C3 box is just the right size for the Park CC-3.2 tool you're using . for measuring chain wear on new, narrower chains. (Photo #2 and 3)
