Big! Beauty and Personal Care

I bought this protector because I clench my teeth (not squeak). The contact points on my teeth became so sensitive that I couldn't eat multigrain bread (the one with small seeds) because it was very painful. Now after only 1 week of use I have much less sensitivity. That's great! I agree with other reviewers that it's a bit difficult to shape to keep in your mouth. It took me 3-4 tries. That being said, I finally figured out that to get a good shape for your teeth, you're just trying to suck all the saliva/air out the front of the retainer by lightly pressing the part that's so above with your fingers Your gums are going They don't suck everything out of your teeth. Since the plastic doesn't stay pliable for long, you may need to do this a few times to get a good fit. It's VERY difficult NOT to bite while it's in your mouth (the instructions say there should be NO tooth marks on the part of the guard that touches the bottom teeth). I can see how a person could bite into it if they took a bite (and crushed the plastic) while standing guard. But if you're careful, the protection will be thick enough that you don't have to worry about biting through it (if you're a constrictor like me). The protection is thicker than I expected. I thought it would be as thick and strong as the Invisalign retainer, but it's 2-3 times thicker and the material is very soft. I tried to bite down but still couldn't make indentations in the part of the guard that touches my bottom teeth. Although that may change in a few months. Remember to trim the guard so it only covers your first molar. My dentist advised me not to buy it from him, but simply to buy "cheap at the pharmacy". However, he warned me that failure to cut the mouthguard to cover only your first molars could result in TMJ/locked jaw. I trimmed mine after I cast it and it was fine (cut off the rounded corners).
