Review on πŸ”₯ Max Burton 6450 Digital LCD 1800W Induction Cooktop Countertop Burner by Corey Evans

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Started great, didn't stop!

UPDATE EDIT: Two months after using it probably 3 times a week it has lost almost all accuracy. Temperature control at 200F and above just went away, and using any of the above power settings results in insanely high temperatures that are probably unsafe (the maximum I tested was over 500 at the 275F setting before doing further testing gave up)! Selecting any power level at level 3 or higher (maybe up to 10!) will transform the pan from freshly greased with high-temp oil to a puff of smoke in a minute. Preheating the pan and cooking at level 1 is still possible, but too inconsistent. TL update; DR: Expensive, very powerful (unsafe) shells. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I see this as budget PolySci so I'm structuring it. check this for comparison. Remember it's over 15 times cheaper than PolySci! I live in a studio with a cook top designed for use on a boat or in an RV which doesn't quite work for me as an avid cook. I got this as a supplement to my PolySci as another powerful burner. It's a tremendous value for the price, and in terms of performance it's almost on par with PolySci, although it lacks PolySci's ultimate precision. In terms of accuracy, Burton offers power levels, or 25-degree heat intervals. Don't expect more accuracy, but don't expect less either. In comparison, both burners will boil water in about the same time and much faster than any gas stove. Burton continued to work up to medium to high temperatures, keeping pace with PolySci in terms of time to reach heat and the consistency of that heat (albeit over wide temperature ranges). Burton couldn't keep up with the shooting but still did a very good job. General noise level: They operate at about the same noise level, relatively quiet. The beeps when using the Burton's controls are more like a squeak than a beep. While it lacks some of the great features of some of the more expensive cooktops in terms of heating accuracy, timer utility, and sensor control, it makes up for it for hundreds of dollars less. This is for you if: - you want a powerful induction hob on a smaller budget - you like precision but don't need precise control - you want to complement a more precise setting with a powerful burner. This is not for you if: - you *need* a full featured, high precision all-in-one hob - you don't have free worktop space. With great power comes greatness. However, don't expect other powerful burners to be smaller. They can't stand beeps. This is a very loud and annoying beeping sound when using the controls. To be honest, the beep every time the button is pressed is just awful. Just listen to music while you cook and let the beep remind you of the money you saved.

Pros
  • Simmer and cook at the touch of a button. The new compact design includes a digital LCD screen and a screen lock to prevent changes to settings.
Cons
  • No form required
