Before I start, I would like to start by saying that I am a professional entertainment technician with stage experience in sound and light. Bass Mic (PDKM-7A): Worth every penny. It's certainly not Shure, it's for Shure (haha), but it's worth the cost of the kit alone. Excellent acquisition quality, low peak slope, good threshold and response. A little flat overall, but good enough for an entry-level kick mic. Tom/Snare Microphones (PDKM-7B): Excellent quality dynamic microphones with boom mount. The pickup seems to perform best in the mids and highs, making them ideal for snare drums and high toms. The bass pickup is flat if not negative, so the floor tom pickup is sloppy. Capacitors (PDKM-7C): Not very durable capacitors. The slightest mishandling or light knocking causes frantic popping noises and hissing of the membrane. Not available for home repairs. However, they have a great pickup, fantastic lows and highs for the price. Definitely part of this kit that I would replace first. Tire clips: garbage. Buy a separate set. The plastic isn't very strong and the friction knobs break after just a few jam sessions, leaving your mics spinning helplessly. Breaks easily, almost impossible to remove if using medium to firm grip tire edges. Capacitor Clamps: Pretty good, about what I expected. Does the job just as well as a standard professional mic clip. Case: Fantastic, durable case that won't easily be dented or scratched. The lock comes with a master key so anyone with the kit can open yours, but it's really just there to see/show more than one function. All in all a fantastic start.
