A lightning strike paralyzed my home theater and both Yamaha amplifiers. Fast forward a few years and I bought a Yamaha ATS1080-R soundbar pretty cheap. It has internal subwoofers and honestly sounds good for a soundbar but not like a dedicated subwoofer. It has an RCA jack for a subwoofer, so I went shopping and found that most subwoofers available are much larger than a soundbar, so I revisited my blown Yamaha amps. At first I thought I'd redo the amp from the inside, but it's part of the sound profile so adding an external amp was the easiest and it more than fit the bill. The sound profile is the same as it was before it was switched off, so it's nice and loud. Since I have another blown amp I think I'll get another one to fix that as well.
