Review on PORTER CABLE 380 Orbital Finish Sander by James Pope

I restore a lot of antiques and I abuse the various end grinders that I use. I've tried every brand that sells under $85 and this grinder is the best of them all. It has a very high spin rate, which is actually more of a side-to-side motion than a full circle like the disc style. Disc sanders are terrible for finish sanders because they scratch the wood against the grain and do NOT leave any reworkable material. This grinder has a good dust collection system with a smaller dust bag that allows the grinder to reach hard-to-reach places. This sander also has a better sandpaper retention system and is easier to load, both qualities you'll quickly come to appreciate. I'm on my third grinder now and that's okay because they're cheap and I really abuse them. They worked better and outlasted every other grinder I've tried. I highly recommend this Porter Cable model.
