I bought this jug because of the glass carafe which I prefer to the thermos. The build quality is excellent and there are many features. It comes with a gold colored basket filter and also has a cone adapter (#4) that snaps into the brew basket. The cone adapter did not come with a gold filter, so you must either purchase one or use a paper filter. I read some reviews about it which made me hesitant to buy it at first but I'm glad I finally bought it. One of the main complaints was the water that was left at the bottom of the pond. When I first unpacked and installed the machine, I ran a tank of water through it as directed and there was about a quarter inch left at the bottom. I repeated this step 3 times with the same result. I wiped it down with a paper towel except for a small indentation in the center that leads to the pump. (The instructions state that filling the pump requires a small amount of water so you don't burn it). I decided to brew a full kettle and see if that would be a problem. After the first brew, the water just stayed in a small depression in the middle of the bottom, as the instructions say. I used the default Gold Cup (SCAA) setting and it boiled a full 60 ounces very quickly. This machine is not only fast, but also brews delicious hot coffee. Consistency - that's the main thing with this car. This is one of the problems I've had at home with other brewers I've had. This machine even makes a cold drink. It has many pre-programmed settings, but you can also customize your own settings. It's very easy to clean. The shower head has a threaded cap that can be removed and washed. Just read the manual and go through all the settings to familiarize yourself with all the features (there are many). There is also a quick brew mode. You will love the speed of this machine. Enjoy your purchase, you will not regret it.
