Only works with certain peripherals

I bought this cable to use with USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C hard drive dock. 3 feet included with the docking station. My computer doesn't even recognize that the dock is connected to this cable. I also connected a portable SSD to my PC with this cable and it connects at rated speed. The maximum cable length for USB 3.1 Gen 2 is "less than 1 meter" (3 feet or less). This is the second brand of 5ft cables I've bought that claims to offer USB 3.1 Gen 2 speeds and failed, although the first connected the dock at USB 2 speeds - got my gear Arranged to work with a 3ft cord.

Pros

Please note that the transfer rate can be up to 20 Gbit/s. The actual speed depends on the connected devices. When connecting Thunderbolt 3 devices to a laptop's Thunderbolt 3 port, speeds of up to 20 Gbps can be achieved. And it will be 10Gbps if USB 3.1 Gen 2 device
