Review on Koss Communications Headset Microphone CS100 USB by Josh Goldsmith

This headset just works

Out of desperation I bought my first Koss Communications USB headset with microphone (CS100-USB). I have a wonderful computer that my brother bought for me when my previous one broke down a few years ago. The only problem with this computer is that it came with a terrible sound system and couldn't expand it in any way. This is a work computer, but thanks to its high processing power and large memory, it is perfect as a mid-range gaming computer. In order to use it the way I wanted, I had to find a way to get the USB system to provide decent sound for both my system and my voice to make videos for Gone Gaming's YouTube channel take my grandmother. They added an electronic noise overlay via the USB connection. Very annoying. Another issue with many other headsets I've tried was that they were very heavy and narrow, making me physically uncomfortable. So I started trying lunges. Each had their pros and cons, but I went with this one. It has a good noise canceling system that works. It's not perfect, but it's way better than some of the others I've tried. As long as I set up my mic properly before I start recording, I have no problem with this part of the equation. The quality of the recorded sound is EXCELLENT. I get no feedback other than the occasional buzz or gasp if I somehow hit the mic by bringing it too close to my mouth. A simple adjustment will do this. A lot of people remark that my sound was recorded quite clearly, which makes me happy. There is no built-in power and volume control device in the kit. All volume control is via the system's built-in controls and works flawlessly. If I want to record louder or quieter, I adjust the volume on my computer. I can wear it for a long period of time without any discomfort. The ear cushions don't overlap so they don't prevent ALL the noise around you from being filtered out, which is fine as I like to include some interaction with others in the room from time to time and I NEED to be aware of what's around me happened around. On the other hand, the ear cushions fit snugly in my ears enough to keep out most harsh or intrusive noises and pick up other voices for my observers/listeners to easily hear. , the rest of the room should be standing right next to me and speaking fairly clearly. All of this "works for me". There are only two things I would like to improve about this headset: (1) The adjustment sliders over the ear cups where the headband attaches are not well designed. In order for the adjusters to move about 3/8" on both sides, I have learned to use a small piece of transparent packing tape on both sides, otherwise I always have to readjust the sliders, which gets tedious very quickly. Since I use these headsets been for quite some time, now i just do it as soon as i get a new set.(2) As great as the sound quality and ease of use are, the headset isn't the most durable i've seen or used, nor is it the most fragile , but it has a definite effective usage time for me, I think around six months. And the ear pads themselves wear out so much that they aren't as soft and fluffy as they were in the beginning and start to irritate the ears.the Passing headphones on to my seven grandchildren (of our almost 22) who live here with us, their mother (our young daughter) and their father, so over time al le from the headset. Then, when (about a year later) through additional (hard) use, some of the other pieces of the set have broken, they are thrown away, just in time to pass on a newer pair. This also works for me. :-D
