Review on ๐Ÿ“ก Enhanced TRAM 1480 Base Antenna for Amateur Dual-Band Usage by John Holliday

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Make bargains for amateur radio operators!

Awesome! Equivalent to Diamond X-200 but cheaper! Mount this on a 2 story house with a satellite mast. It is quite large and visible from the road at about 9 feet tall. Be sure to wrap butyl tape and tape around the center connector. There is a piece of foam in the middle. Just shake the antenna to pull out the stick. I used dielectric grease at the connection points and in the radial holes. Thing is holding up like a champ and really getting out there and picking up APRS packets further than my 4 element beam! Also sold under other types such as UVS Workman. The finish is brilliant, I plan to paint the whole thing matte black. SWR @ 146,520 is around 1-1.3 which is great! However, I have not tested UHF. Update: Still working great after 3 months, no signs of weathering, since painted matte black. I'm really cumming on this antenna!

Pros
  • 8 feet tall
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
