Review on TORC T27B1 FWT RS L T27B Full Face Modular Helmet with Blinc Bluetooth: Ultimate Protection & Connectivity for Riders by Dexter Pullen

Hard to beat for the price!

I bought this helmet because of Bluetooth and because I already had another Torc 27 with BT and wanted to pair them. BT works well and I can hear most of my audio and GPS even at higher speeds when riding a motorcycle with a windshield. If not, then it becomes questionable from 60 km/h. With the windshield on, I hear all of this at speeds of up to 100 mph, about as loud as rolling down the windows in a car with the radio at normal volume. You'll hear it, but the details start to blur a little. It takes a brief second to understand the audio controls. For example, there are no Siri, Google, or Alexa features. Turning the volume up and down is easy - toggle forward or back with a beep to notify you when you have nowhere else to go. Skipping tracks is similar to turning the volume down and up (turning the dial forward or backward), except you have to hold the disc for a second or two to complete the process. For example, it takes about 10 seconds to skip 5 tracks. I don't call while driving - EVER. Answering calls is easy, just touch the side button. They can't hear you when you're driving fast, especially without a windshield. I also bought some spare visors for this helmet. I bought chrome and dark black visors and mostly ride with chrome. I've gotten a lot of compliments all over town just walking around the shops and asking people about my Iron Man helmet with the chrome visor, they saw me ride and thought I had the coolest helmet they've ever had . Once they know it has BT and speakers, it's on. I might as well be the Torc representative at this point. In my opinion the helmet is 2 sizes too small. I ordered these first according to the size chart and had to send them back. It takes me 2 days to get to me but 9 days to come back and get a refund. It was a little annoying. However, I have found, and reviews confirm, that their chart is off by a mile, although my measurements are accurate. My "right" size foam was just too hard for my skull. I was tall according to their chart and really needed an XXL. I know they don't offer XXL on this model so I ordered XL and it's bearable but still a bit tight especially on long rides when I find the pressure on my forehead too much. I suspect the foam will adjust to my head a bit over time. The jury hasn't come to that yet. The helmet offers really decent airflow. There are two main vents and both offer excellent cooling, but the more air, the less music you'll hear. I have found that installing a volume booster on my device helps resolve this issue. The visor stays up while moving up to a certain speed and then closes due to air pressure pushing it down. However, if you lift the face mask all the way up, it stays in place and is a pleasure to wear on really hot Florida days. or if you want to go to the store for a while and keep your helmet on. These days I'd rather not go into any store with my helmet on where no one can see my face. However, it also offers pretty good air protection if you need that feature on cold days. There is a nose guard and a chin guard to keep the air out of the helmet on cold days. That's nice. Both are rubber and simply plug in or pull out when not in use. Easy. There are many helmets but I like Torc and the quality of the helmet is very good. I just wish they would offer more visor options. This model has been discontinued and the Torc 28B is now sold and featured in their latest catalogue. Model 28B is available in size XXL.
