Review on 🌱 NESCO TR-2 Gardenmaster 15.5" Add-A-Tray for NESCO 1000 Series Dehydrators - Expand Your Drying Capacity with 2 Additional Trays by Dominic Maxwell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not exactly like the originals that came with my FD-1040, hopefully they still work.

I bought these to add to my Nesco Gardenmaster Digital FD-1040. My Gardenmaster isn't very old, I've only had it a month or two. They are not quite the same as the ones that came with my dehydrator. They do not exactly match the images on the product page. They do not exactly match the picture on the box they came in. The images on the product page and the images on the box look exactly like the ones that came with my dehydrator. There is a small disclaimer on the packaging that says "The product may vary slightly from the item shown". The image on the left shows the new optional compartments. They have a tall center ring with tower cutouts, unlike my original trays which have a shorter and smoother center ring as you can see in the picture to the right. The original trays have a "bulge" shape (somewhat like a bicycle wheel), giving them a subtle volcanic shape. When folded, the center rings fit together seamlessly. The new trays are flat and therefore lower in the middle, so the center rings are higher. If you look down at the center hole in the image on the right, you can see the gap created between the center rings of the original compartment above and the new compartments below. When I stack new flat pans on top of the original pans, I lose about 1/3 of the drying space around the center of the original pan, which is directly below the new pan, since the original is thinly tapered and the new pan is flat. The second picture shows one of the small hooks on the new tray. They don't have my original shells. I'm not a big fan of hooks, I cut my hand on one of these cleaning it before using it. I hope these trays work for me. My concern is that the cut-out center rings will alter the airflow inside the machine, which the ad says was specifically designed to improve efficiency and eliminate the need to rotate the bowls. they seem to go well together. Haven't been able to contact Nesco yet to see if there is an extra compartment for the FD-1040 as they are closed at the weekend. I'll go ahead and try them because I have products that won't wait until I know where I can get bowls like the originals (if they're even available anywhere).
