Like others here, I found that the spring basically didn't hold up. It took me too much trouble to get the hooks on the spring to start the compression maneuver. A cam grip that applies a compressive force seems like a good idea, but it actually takes so much force to get it in place, it needs to be loose and clear for me to get the job done, but I think I am stronger, many who will try to use this tool. You can remove the cam handle and use the included 1/2" screw. This is a good feature. This will help solve any release issues. You only need about 3 or 4 inches of clearance above the tool to use the Bolts to drive it in. So if there is a particular application where you only have a few inches above the valve gear this lisle will do, although it takes many extra minutes to work just to attach the hook to the springs.The horizontal handle is designed to give the user some leverage to control the tool in my opinion, but that long handle gets in the way. There isn't always room in the engine bay for that horizontal handle that is about 8" long. I have this Lisle back in plugged the package after i compressed 3 springs it took too long to persuade him to find a place on the spring for the hooks to snag once compressed, the quill seemed weakly held by Lyle. A small accidental impact and the spring will dislodge from the tool and expand around the magazine. He may also break a finger or two while inserting the gaskets and retainers into the spring cover notch if he spontaneously compresses the spring. I finished the other 13 springs using a $15 Sears compression tool. (Looks like a large battery stripper.) It attaches to the spring quickly and easily, so my first try on each of the remaining 13 springs was successful. I have a lot of Lisle tools in my garage. Lyle usually makes a good impression on me. At this time? nope!
