I don't have much experience with mattress covers but they seem to vary widely in price. While I wouldn't have a problem buying a more expensive cover, once you're over $50 it starts to feel a little ridiculous. What makes one $50 and the other $20 something? I have no idea. Reviews aren't perfect for any of them, and almost all of them are made in China anyway. I tried it and it seems good. I don't have an incontinent dog or a baby to worry about, so all I needed was a cover to keep my mattresses under warranty. The material is stretch polyester with a waterproof *stand-up* lining. I doubt that this will protect the mattress from an incontinence situation, and I also doubt that it will prevent the bed bugs from spreading wherever they want. I've dealt with them once in my life - they are incredible creatures. If they break into your home, you'll have bigger problems than trying to save your mattress. So it's hard to imagine that a cheap mattress cover can be completely bed bug proof or waterproof. It would either have to be sewn to the mattress at the factory, in which case it couldn't be removed/reused, or it would have to be made into a zippered stuff sack. It becomes very expensive and you lose the comfort of your mattress because of the material. However, my mattress is about 11-12 inches, so I originally ordered a size "up to 13". While it worked well, there was quite a bit of excess material, which increased the case's noise level. You might also feel this extra material while sleeping, which isn't ideal. So I ordered the 9" size to see if it would work better or if it would be too small to fit. Well I'm happy to report that a 9" mattress is perfect for an 11". -inch mattress is - think about it. It *might* work on a 12" too, since it's semi-elastic, but that would be a little iffy; I can't confirm if it fits there. You probably don't want to emphasize the seams too much because if there is a tear the case will be very unusable. So if you have a 12 inch mattress I would order both and see if they fit and then return the one you don't like. Of course, if your mattress is thicker, you should go for a 13-inch mattress, which, like a 9-inch mattress, can easily handle a mattress a few inches thicker. Bedecor or Revain or whoever shoots themselves in the foot with the sizing for these. The 9" should be advertised as (9-11), the 13" as (12-14), and if it stays with the same model as the others, the 15" as (15-17). If I see them I would also add a fourth size towards the bottom of the scale which is 6-8" This covers almost every mattress and also reduces return.
