I bought this lens with the intention of starting the transition from auto to manual. Step One: Focus on yourself. It does exactly what I wanted it to do. The images aren't as bright as with my 35mm lens, but other than that I have nothing bad to say. To answer frequently asked questions about this lens, I am using it on a Nikon DX format. All functions work well except for the autofocus, which I still wanted. I also like that it acts as a kind of bridge between my 18-55mm lens and my 55-200 lenses. I actually find the existence of such an overlap very useful. The lens arrived quickly and well packaged. No complaints, very happy with the purchase.
