Protected my food while biking in Idaho. I didn't encounter any bears on the drive, but the camping squirrels were crazy and aggressive! They struggled to get into the barrel and all they could do was gnaw a hole in the shipping box. The cover is sometimes difficult to remove even if you know how to do it. but it is enough to just tilt the container to the side and it will easily fall down when the locks are opened. Something to keep in mind - given the very hot day temperatures and cool nights in the mountains I ended up with quite a bit of condensation in the bin. Once a day (or 2) I shake everything out and dry it.
