Review on uxcell 1/4 Inch CCD Flush Mount Rear View Camera for Backup Assistance by Brian Sage

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent and works well for the price. UConnect Owners READ!

*IMPORTANT*: UConnect Owners (Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler) - See attached image. The camera in the right box works, but the left one doesn't! Read more below. Okay, now I've ordered FIVE of these. I kept coming back to this product when looking for cameras for my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. So it seemed like a great option. After the dealer connected everything but the camera and unlocked the main unit, I connected the camera. only to see a distorted and unusable image. So, assuming the camera is bad, I ordered a second one. The same thing. After reading numerous posts in the thread about other Jeep owners having the same problem, I ordered THREE MORE of these. This time the packaging on all three was different from the previous two (see attached photo). and all three worked! CONCLUSION: If your camera came in plain white packaging, it probably WILL NOT work with a UConnect main unit. Swap it out if you want until you get the one in the graphics pack as that will most likely work. First impression: once I have the right camera, the picture looks pretty good. I would give the picture a 6.7/10. In a world full of high-resolution images that are everywhere, a $13 camera is hard to compete; but for a reversing camera, this is quite suitable for its purpose. The installation is quite simple, but of course it depends on your application. The video cable is more than long enough to run from the main unit of 4 other Wranglers, around the glove box, under the carpet by the passenger doors and back to the camera (mounted in the rear bumper). Don't worry about the red pigtails on the video cable with this type of setup. I will update this review with more information on weather/water resistance and durability as that information becomes clearer.
