Use this IR repeater to install the Pioneer radio in cars that do not have built-in controls on the steering wheel. The repeater allowed for better placement of the steering wheel-mounted remote and more functional use of it when the steering wheel was off-center, which could have been. The repeater receiver was attached to the steering wheel position adjustment lever on the left of the pillar, and the transmitter was routed to the overhead console in the center of the car in front of the head unit. Works fantastic and the transmitter is never "blinded" by other parts of the car such as the shifter like it was when the original remote was placed on the right hand side of the steering wheel to try and get it to send a signal to the head to send unit. This setup uses a Pioneer CD-SR100 remote control with an AVH-X8500BHS head unit in an original 2002 Toyota Sequoia.
