While it doesn't identify or eliminate smelly odors, it takes care of the odor almost immediately.
Carrots and celery spoiled in my fruit box, which I forgot and threw away a few months ago, but the smell lingered. Put it in the fridge and the next day I open the fridge and when I open the door no noticeable smell comes out. So it seems to be doing its job. But the big caveat is that it doesn't fix or eliminate things that smell. So be careful with science experiments as it seems to be quite strong at removing odors so putting on something you might end up having in the fridge won't know until you have one of them.
