I bought this knowing I would buy a new Mac mini but only with 256GB as I didn't want to pay exorbitant prices for extra storage. I bought an external storage space, 1TB, and this device and it was a miracle. I primarily use the storage to store podcast files as most of my other work is stored in the cloud. Since internal storage isn't as important as it used to be, and the Mac mini has very few ports, this is a great addition. I also use the front mic ports for podcasts and other USB accessories. In fact, this is the perfect complement to a great Mac (which lacks space and lots of ports). And the price of this product is very good. Finally, with the Mac seeming to slow down transfer rates between external devices even over USB-c, speeds were more than adequate. It's still pretty fast to save and access files from the external hard drive, which is in this case.
