Men's sports sandals Chaco Z1 Classic

This is my first pair of Chaco. Somehow I always missed them in the store. I bought these sandals to wear while hiking in the Rocky Mountains. It was a good choice. You keep your feet on a steep ledge. I walked down terrain I wouldn't normally tread in sandals. The straps held my legs, didn't slip, and felt secure. At first I thought I had made a mistake with these trekking shoes, but after getting to the bottom I was sure that they would be suitable for hiking in the mountains. The big advantage of these sandals is that your feet stay cool. Feet get hot in hiking boots. The adjustment strap is long but doesn't touch the floor in my case. I found it useful to have a longer strap. I was able to quickly tighten the harness when climbing and later loosen it for walking on level ground. I like a tight fit when climbing, but I prefer it a little looser when walking on flat trails. When walking on wet ground, you have the same grip as with hiking boots. The bottom of the sandal really looks like the sole of a hiking shoe. I measured the weight of each sandal and strangely one weighs more than the other. The left sandal weighed 11.2 ounces and the right sandal weighed 14.2 ounces. This is for a size 9. I also bought a Chaco Mega Z Cloud and it was a different weight for each sandal too. And the right sandal was heavier. There must be a problem with the production. I don't notice any weight difference on my legs. The straps didn't bother me at all. I wore them on a few short walks before embarking on a longer trail. But I've been wearing sandals all day for about 6 months and that may have prepared my feet for these straps. After about 1 day I started to feel that the heel was too tight. I ordered a medium width which is my usual width. I stopped at a local shop and tried on the wide version of the same sandals, the heel was wider but felt too wide, too much slippage in the heel. My leg had a little movement that I thought was too much. After getting to know the steep terrain I'm glad I kept the average width, you need a snug fit to go up the steep slope. Any movement can upset the balance. The feeling of space was created by the calyx on the fold of the sandal. Most sandals are molded in the crease. However, these sandals have a heel cup that feels different, but it allows you to walk down a rocky, steep path while keeping your foot in a stable position. The arch of the sandal is high. Way more arch than any other sandal I've seen. And my foot feels good after walking in it for hours. I find that the bow is really useful. Conclusion, looks like a hiking shoe. Highly recommended for use on the trail or for hiking in general. I'm sure the straps won't break easily and I should take advice on when they wear out. I had other high quality sandals that looked ok but suddenly broke while wearing them. Not very good when a few miles away. After wearing these sandals for about a month I think they are amazing. I prefer them to any other sandals or hiking shoes. There are prettier sandals out there but they are not as comfortable or as comfortable as these.
