Review on Sennheiser PXC 480 Noise Canceling Headphones by Tricia Taylor

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent noise cancellation, great sound but too tight

So quiet. With a comfortable fit (but not too tight) and excellent noise cancellation, I can sit outside and block out the sound of a loud breeze or block out the sound of a stove inside. And then I switched my music streaming service to Extreme Quality (320 kbps) and immersed myself in the music. The sound isn't bass-heavy, but there's noticeably more bass than some other headphones. Perfect for my taste. The music does not degrade at higher volumes or lose the delicate vocals of acoustic and quieter songs. This is my second pair of noise canceling headphones. I prefer the PXC 480 because it has better noise cancellation. I attribute this in part to the tight fit around the ears. The other set is looser around the ears and lets through more noise than the noise-canceling circuitry can handle. I loved my old headphones but they have been sitting in my desk drawer since they arrived. However, I will say that some Sennheisers may seem too tight. This is a side effect of the tight fit. My other headphones were more comfortable and barely noticeable. On the other hand, they put some pressure on my larger than average bald head. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make, but if you're easily distracted by the tight fit, you might find it too tight for your liking.
