We've driven this cooler twice before - 4500 miles to Mojave in a Jeep and 3000 miles to Arizona in a Subaru. Works perfectly. Keeps drinks and snacks like cheese and dried meat nice and cold. We install it in the middle of the back seat and can easily reach it from the front. Its noise level is quite low, road noise covers it. We usually store four drinks and snacks in it. Enough space. We had a third person with us when we got back from Arizona, and it was big enough for all our stuff. My only gripe is that the wiring and ports are barely enough to keep you on the road for 8-10 hours. On the first ride, the cable connector at the front of the radiator melted a bit. It hasn't melted on other trips - yet. I would suggest a larger cable and 20 amp connectors to keep heat damage to a minimum. My old 12v radiator bought over 30 years ago melted two 12v cigarette lighter plugs. I eventually replaced it with a 20A model and everything has been fine ever since. Note. The instructions state that it should be turned off and unplugged from the mains every time the engine is started or stopped, apparently to protect against power surges. It's a pain in the neck. I never did that with my old 12V cooler. I have forgotten this several times with a new one without damage. I'm guessing that's just to give them a chance when this thing dies electronically. Basically I just reach in and flip the switch off when starting or stopping. The cheap slide switch is a little fiddly to find the middle OFF position. If it breaks, I replace it with a toggle switch. while satisfied. It's good to have a small cooler. My old one is a 7 gallon chest. Too big for most trips. This one just fits. Update July 2021 We went to Dallas and the cooler worked fine AFTER I fixed the switch. It got very flaky so I treated it with Cramolin contact cleaner: https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-D5S-6-DeoxIT-Contact-Cleaner/dp/B00006LVEU/ref=sr_1_15?dchild=1&keywords=cramolin&qid=1632410073&sr =8-15 This is the best contact cleaner I've used in 40 years of electronics work. But even after this treatment, the switch is still a bit flaky. Before treatment was dead - no contact. At some point I will have to replace it. I'm not a fan of slide switches. In my decades of experience in the electronics field, I have come to the conclusion that slide switches are the least reliable choice for almost every application. Give me a good, solid mug, please. At the same time the cooler works well and so far for me 4 stars. Upgrade the switch and 12v connections and there will be 5.
