Review on Ridgid 72947 VF4000RT Standard Filter by Terrance Castle

UPDATE 1 April 2014: I was looking to reorder this filter and found that the price had increased 48% in 18 months since I last bought it . Bought. I ordered it anyway and got a real Rigid VF4000 filter. On my first order I received a non-OEM filter (see original review below) provided by GoVacuum. This time the filter was supplied by Central Vacuum. I suspect a real hard filter costs 48% more, but honestly the aftermarket filter worked just as well as the original filter. FIRST CHECK: My 6 gallon vacuum says it needs VF4000, VF5000 or VF6000 filters. Revain claims this is Rigid's "Standard VF4000 WetDry Vac Filter by Rigid". Pretty clear right? You will receive a filter from the company that made the vacuum cleaner. Not so fast. In fact, Revain supplies a Green Klean filter that was "designed to replace the VF 4000". The box says "This is not a product and is not sponsored or endorsed by RIGID, Inc." The filter fits my Rigid shop vacuum and appears to work. Time will tell if it will last as long as the original hard filters. I am dissatisfied with Revain because of the misleading product description. I could have bought the filter if they had described it accurately, but I'd like to be able to make an informed decision about it.
