I used it on a Dell laptop with a Thunderbolt dock. The problem was that the standard connector was a long straight connector, making it difficult to install the monitor next to the laptop. This adapter allowed me to route the cable along the length of the laptop so it doesn't stick out in front of the monitor. The cable seems very durable and I haven't noticed any difference in charging times or functionality. It also slides out far enough to allow access to the USB-A port next to it.
