Helps devices with missing ports

This Mediagear dock measures 10.4 x 5.3 x 4 inches and weighs just under 6 pounds. It includes 4 USB 3.0 ports, 2 USB C ports, 2 HDMI ports, 2 DisplayPort ports, 1 Ethernet port (Gig Speed) and separate ports for audio input and microphone output. I'm using this dock for a new laptop that has the power it needs but lacks ports and has a monitor that's a bit smaller than what I plan to use when I'm at home. What I liked most about this Mediagear docking station: - Powered expansion options. This docking station lets you charge and sync across multiple ports, with one of the USB-C ports offering 60W power delivery. - Video output. I love that I can stream content from my 15.6" 1080p laptop screen to my new 34" 1440p display via DisplayPort. I've used a pair of HDMI ports in the past to cast this laptop's content to a pair of 27-inch 1080p displays. - Perfomance. Performance is generally good and reliable with this dock, needless to say but still important to note. My least favorite thing about this Mediagear dock is that if you connect this dual 4k display dock while charging under full load, this device will get hot and performance will drop. The refresh rate is also limited to 60 Hz with DisplayPort. For me, 1440p is the perfect place for gaming and productivity. Text is still large enough to improve performance, but images are sharper than 1080p. Another benefit of 1440p is the ability to deliver over 100 frames with good, but not necessarily cutting-edge graphics card technology. My current monitor and laptop can play 1440p games at over 120fps, but this dock robs me of those precious frames as it can only deliver a 60Hz refresh rate. All in all, this MediaGear offering is worth a look if you're looking for a docking station that expands the options of your setup. The MediaGear Dock offers powerful expansion options, video output, and good overall performance. Unfortunately, this docking station can overheat under heavy loads. Gamers may also experience frame drops due to the 60Hz refresh rate. Despite what's on offer, this is a good docking station that offers solid functionality and performance for most users, and at a reasonable price. 4.0 out of 5.0.
