Review on Apple MagSafe 2 Converter by Barbara Majdoch

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I can't believe Apple actually did this. Good product, buy while you can.

I've seen a few reviews where people have mentioned problems with these things, but I've used mine with an Apple OEM 85w MagSafe adapter (1) and it worked great on a 2016 MBP. Good product and I have to thank Apple for making/offering it. It's ten bucks for a small piece of metal and it sounded like a lot at first, but after using them and realizing that they breathe new life into all old magsafe(1) power supplies (or at least model 85W in my experience), they are worth their price. You can plug one into an old power adapter, walk out the door knowing that you can plug in and power up most Apple laptops instead of lugging around different adapters. And also. He's not throwing all those old power supplies into the landfill just yet and giving them new life. It's so different from Apple making a product that improves the usefulness of older devices rather than their usual seemingly planned obsolescence. Could this device signal a change in Apple's approach of dropping support for anything older than 5 years, forcing you to throw away something that would have worked great until a software update? Software will not render the device unusable or inoperable to run the latest version of your operating system you needed to install the latest version of iTunes you need to backup your old iphone to the latest iiphone you just bought have to be able to restore. Probably not. I'd take my time, because I've tried buying them locally at a few places, and I think Apple has now realized their 'mistake'. They've sold out everywhere near me, and one of the black-clad Apple reps at the local Best Buy store said he's sold them and has no plans to restock them, saying he thinks they're out of production. Take them while you can.
