Well, two jobs. To shine and stay chained to your shoes. They're certainly bright enough, and they were inexpensive (and they get two stars for those two points), but they fail miserably at the second task of staying in your shoe. I'm sure they're ok if you run, can't imagine why the designers thought they would snag on your feet when you run. I think it took a few minutes for the first one to fall off and set the tone for the whole run until I gave up and put them on my wrists. I probably won't be returning them as they were pretty cheap. and instead try modifying them to stay in place, perhaps with something that ties around the front of your shoe. But really, isn't it too much to expect them to stay out of the box on a variety of shoes without modification? A quick look at the reviews shows that I'm far from the only person suffering from this problem. UPDATE: They don't even snap to my shoes when walking. Absolutely useless.
