Much better than I expected

(Panasonic and Olympus) has over the Years several lenses slightly dented. I was never completely satisfied with the images I got and couldn't justify spending so much money on a Panasonic lens. In the end I chose this lens because it has an equivalent zoom range of 24-70mm and a constant aperture of f2. 8. I was expecting some improved images. I was wrong! The results I got were amazing! That has to be the sharpest lens I have. Period. Even compared to my lenses on other systems (I have Canon and Nikon full frame DSLRs) this lens is really great! M4/3 - small format. It takes a lot of work to get amazing images, at least images comparable to larger formats like APS-C or FF. I can say that the images I get with this lens when shooting in RAW with my Panasonic GX85 beat my big cameras for the money! You are most likely reading this because you are in doubt as to whether or not you should buy this lens. All I can say is yes this is an amazing lens and definitely worth the money. The only two downsides are that it's a bit heavy and the IS is barely noticeable. Compared to the lenses I use with my Canon and Nikon gear, it's a lot lighter than my Nikon 16-35mm f4.0 and Canon 16-35mm f4L, but more powerful than either of those two! This Panasonic lens is comparable (on APS-C format cameras) to my Canon EF-S 17-55mm f2.8 and Nikon 17-55mm f2.8 DX. If I had known this lens was this good I wouldn't have spent so much money on m4/3 primes.

Pros
  • HIGH SPEED AF: Improved, faster focus tracking with a 240fps linear motor ensures smooth aperture changes so there are no sudden jumps in exposure to improve video quality
